Bedford Train Crash: Driver Shaun Burton, 60, Named by Family
Shaun Burton, 60, was named as the driver killed when two East Midlands Railway trains collided near Bedford on 19 June 2026.
A Corby-to-London service struck the rear of a stopped Nottingham service on the same fast line just after 5pm.
Around 100 people were injured; nine were critical and 28 remained in hospital days later.
Burton came to the railway late after years on buses and coaches, becoming a driver seven years ago.
The RAIB is investigating; no cause has been confirmed, and rear-end collisions are rare on Britain's network.
