A human face with large eyes, a straight nose and full lips was found carved into a granite boulder in central Kazakhstan.

Emergency services staff, not archaeologists, spotted it during a routine field survey.

Nearby lay a collapsed stone stela over 6 feet long, carved with a large-antlered deer.

Researchers think it may be a Bronze Age ritual site linked to worship of ancestors or unknown gods.

The exact age is still unconfirmed — early Iron Age and medieval Turkic origins remain possible.
