Caste Census 2027: What India Is Actually Counting

Census 2027 is the first to record caste data since 1931 — a 96-year gap.

It runs in two phases: house-listing (from April 2026) and population enumeration in February 2027.

Reference date is 1 March 2027; snow-bound hill areas use 1 October 2026.
