EES vs ETIAS: What Indians Need to Enter Europe in 2026

EES, Europe's biometric border system, is fully live across the Schengen area since 10 April 2026.
Indian travellers still need a Schengen visa, plus an EES biometric check at the border.
ETIAS does NOT apply to Indians — it is only for visa-free nationalities, expected Q4 2026.
First entry takes longer: a face scan and fingerprints replace the old passport stamp.
The 90-days-in-180 rule is now tracked digitally, so overstays are far harder to hide.
