When a Governor Sits on a Bill: Article 200 and the New Deadlines

A Governor has only three Article 200 choices: assent, withhold, or reserve a Bill for the President.
There is no constitutional 'pocket veto' — indefinite silence on a Bill is not a fourth option.
In April 2025 the Supreme Court fixed real deadlines, mostly one to three months, for Governors to act.
A re-passed Bill must normally get assent; the Governor cannot withhold it a second time.
A 2025 Presidential Reference has put these timelines before a larger bench, so the rules may still shift.
