Bortle 1 in Ladakh: Where to Actually See the Milky Way in India

Hanle in Ladakh is India's first Dark Sky Reserve, rated Bortle 1 — the darkest sky class there is.
The Bortle scale runs 1 (pristine) to 9 (inner city); most Indian metros sit at 8-9.
New moon nights, dry winter air and high altitude are what make the Milky Way pop into view.
Pench (Maharashtra) and Kolli Hills (Tamil Nadu) bring dark-sky tourism closer to the plains.
You need no telescope — dark-adapted eyes and 20 minutes away from white light do most of the work.
