Power Bank Rules on Indian Flights: The 2026 Cabin Checklist
DGCA bans charging from or to a power bank in flight on India routes from 4 January 2026
Power banks fly only in the cabin, never checked-in, and never in the overhead bin
Capacity cap is 100Wh free, 100-160Wh needs airline approval, above 160Wh is barred
Convert mAh to Wh with rated 3.7V: a 20,000mAh pack is about 74Wh and clears easily
Carry at most two spare power banks and keep them in the seat pocket or under-seat bag
