Your Tyre Has a Hidden Birth Date — Find It Before You Pay
Every tyre's sidewall carries a 4-digit code: first two digits are the week, last two the year of manufacture.
Tyres age even unused; most makers say replace around 5-6 years and never run past 10, regardless of tread left.
Decode the size string (e.g. 195/55 R16 87V) so you fit the load index and speed rating your car actually needs.
Check the date code before you pay — dealers often sell 'new' tyres that sat in a warehouse for two years.
Look for the BIS/ISI mark; India is rolling out star-rating labels for grip and fuel efficiency.
