Saokat Molla Arrested: Inside the NIA's Bhangar Blast Case

NIA arrested ex-TMC MLA Saokat Molla on 5 June 2026 over the pre-poll Bhangar bomb blast.

The case stems from a 19 March crude-bomb explosion that killed one and injured three in South 24 Parganas.

Molla, a two-time Canning Purba winner, lost the Bhangar seat in the 2026 polls.

The arrest follows multiple NIA searches at his home, a TMC office and his son's restaurant.

It lands soon after BJP's first-ever West Bengal win, sharpening the political temperature.
