Fourth S-400 'Sudarshan' Squadron Arrives in India from Russia

India has received the 4th of 5 S-400 squadrons under the 2018 deal with Russia.

Only one squadron — the fifth and final — now remains, expected by late 2026 or early 2027.

The system, named Sudarshan in IAF service, can engage targets out to roughly 400 km.

It was credited with downing Pakistani drones and missiles during Operation Sindoor in May 2025.

India is also pursuing five more S-400 units and an indigenous shield, Project Kusha.
