Gujarat Land Records Go Local: Services Move to Taluka Level

Gujarat is decentralising 138 Land Record Inspector (Class-2) posts from district to taluka level.

Another 177 newly created inspector posts are being deployed across state, zonal and taluka tiers.

Goal: land measurement, demarcation and partition surveys closer to where farmers live.

It builds on 2026 reforms — new Land Revenue Rules, demarcation committees and faster mutation timelines.

Real test is staffing and turnaround time, not just where the desk sits.
