How to Read an Indian Food Label and Spot the Tricks

The %RDA on labels is calculated on a generous base: 50g added sugar and 5g salt a day.
Brands shrink the 'serving size' so the per-serve sugar and fat numbers look small.
Multiply sodium by 2.5 to get actual salt; divide sugar grams by 4 for teaspoons.
'No Added Sugar' can still mean high natural or hidden sugar — check total sugar.
FSSAI now wants sugar, salt and saturated fat printed in bold, larger font.
