USB-C Is Now Law in India: What the Charger Mandate Means

Smartphones and tablets sold in India already require a USB-C port; laptops must follow by end of 2026.
Feature phones, smartwatches, earbuds and other small accessories are exempt for now.
The law standardises the port, not charging speed — a USB-C cable still may not fast-charge every device.
Apple's iPhone already moved to USB-C in 2023, so the rule mostly cleans up the long tail of proprietary plugs.
Goal: fewer junk chargers, less e-waste and one cable that works across most of your gadgets.
