Mamdani Launches NYC Pride With Trans Rights Campaign

Mamdani kicked off Pride Month with a citywide 'Trans Rights Are Human Rights' awareness campaign.

NYC complaints over gender identity jumped from ~5% to nearly 20% of all human-rights complaints in five years.

Artist Dez Stavracos designed banners running through June on transit, kiosks and print ads.

Mamdani, 34, is NYC's first Muslim mayor and the son of Indian filmmaker Mira Nair.

India has its own trans-rights framework via the 2014 NALSA verdict and the 2019 Transgender Persons Act.
