Nine Ladies Death: Solstice Gathering Becomes a Murder Inquiry

Isaac Clare-Watts, 26, from Arnold near Nottingham, was found dead at the Nine Ladies stone circle on 22 June 2026.

Derbyshire police are treating the death as murder; a 41-year-old man was arrested, with reports differing on his bail status.

The body was found the day after a summer solstice gathering at the Bronze Age site on Stanton Moor.

A senior detective described the killing as carried out in the most brutal way and appealed for solstice footage.

Nine Ladies is a roughly 4,000-year-old monument and a long-standing focus of modern Pagan solstice ritual.
